About Sophia
I am a lawyer in our Private Client team at Advodan Glostrup Copenhagen, specialising in family and criminal law, where I have many years of experience handling both types of cases.
Within family law, I am particularly specialised in matters of parental custody, residence, and visitation rights, while in criminal law, I am appointed as a defender in all types of cases, ranging from major jury trials involving attempted murder, rape, weapons, robbery, and similar offences, to cases involving violence, threats, narcotics, economic crime, traffic and other special law violations. I also have significant experience in international child abduction cases and matters involving coercive measures against children and youth in the Youth Crime Board and Child and Youth Welfare Administration.
Additionally, I draft wills, prenuptial agreements, and powers of attorney for future care, and provide advice in divorce cases, including participating in settlement negotiations and drafting property division agreements. Previously, I worked for the Danish Courts for over 10 years, serving daily as a presiding judge in all types of civil and criminal cases, giving me a very broad legal experience.
Specialist in family law – with a focus on children and youth
My core area involves cases concerning children. I handle many high-conflict cases and have a deep understanding and insight into the often very difficult situations that parents face.
Regardless of the level of conflict, I always help my client to understand the process and maintain focus on the next step in the case, supporting them in seeking the solutions that seem best for both the child and my client in the specific situation.
In this regard, I assist my client in realistically and critically approaching the tough decisions they face.
In cases of international child abduction, I have extensive experience in managing communication with the ministry, police, and foreign lawyers, aiding in expediting the process and ensuring relevant case illumination. I assist my client in maintaining focus and overview in what is typically an overwhelming process.
As a representative for either the child or the parents in cases of forced placements, etc., I make a point of explaining my client's options in an easily understandable way and ensure that my client’s viewpoints are faithfully conveyed to the Children and Youth Welfare Administration or the Youth Crime Board. In this context, I am listed in the Youth Crime Boards roster of lawyers particularly suited to handle cases involving the forced placement of children.
Passionate criminal defence lawyer
I have substantial experience as a criminal defence lawyer, where I act as defence counsel in all types of criminal cases, from minor fine cases to those where the prosecution seeks lengthy prison sentences, treatment orders, and deportation, etc.
My thorough knowledge of the court system ensures that I always know precisely how to highlight the weak points of a case in a way most favourable to my client, and what information the court will consider particularly important.
I see it as my foremost duty to ensure that each of my clients receives a fair trial. I critically examine every aspect of the process, from the start of the investigation to the conclusion of the case, whether that be through dismissal of charges or the court’s verdict. In this regard, it is important to me to provide realistic advice, ensuring my client is aware of their options and risks in the case.
